What happens in ‘Music lesson with María’

 

At Music lessons with María, María and the children sit together in a circle. María brings her guitar and teaches the children old and new children songs, most of them with fun movements or stories behind them. María interacts with the children according to their age group, will teach them about melodies and rhythms, shows them pictures of various instruments with sound examples, plays with them a musical ‘follow the leader’ and ‘copy me’ and sings with them exotic songs from all around the world. In the end they play together a game where everyone can participate in singing and/or dancing. 

 

Each Music lesson with María is 40-45 min long (25-30 min for children below 2 years old).

 

Each Music lesson with María costs £45 paid at the end of the month by invoice.

 

 

 

About María

 

María Magnúsdóttir is music teacher and graduated musician from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. She has many years experience in working with children, teaching singing and music lessons, directing choirs and working as a freelance musician.

 

The curriculum of Music lessons with María she developed during the last five years while living and studying in The Netherlands. Along with her music studies she gave music lessons by age groups at a kindergarten and after school daycare in Wassenaar, all the while she gathered songs and musical games. She tried out the curriculum with the children developing a fun and interactive program of singing, dancing and playing games where everyone can learn and participate.
